Yes we have finally joined the online sales revolution by allowing you to book and pay for an advert by PayPal. The advert must be booked and paid for by the 17th of the month prior to publication. This has been really popular and now you can book your slot in the Gig Guide section here as well.

PayPal allows you to pay by debit or credit card; use the drop down menu (below) to select the size of advert you would like and Pay Pal will handle the rest.

It's super safe with lots of encryption and all kinds of features that frankly your Editor does not understand. Add any additional information in the text box below and we'll get back to you as soon as the order is received to clarify the advert design.

Adverts in Suited & Booted and how to do 'em

We do still get people sending us A4 bits of paper that they would like to have run as Quarter Page adverts...it doesn't really work.

Neither do A4 pages fit straight onto an A5 page even though you might think that they should if you just reduced them down in size. It's all to do with the proportions of the page and that is down to the ISO system. It is very clever, two A5 pages do go onto an A4 but the width and length ratios are not the same. (You have to turn the pages sideways.)

Why are we telling you this?

To avoid pain! We don't charge for our advertising layouts (perhaps we should, but we don't) so why not give the job to us? It will probably work out a lot easier in the end. If you have tame graphic designer hiding under the stairs then point them to this page so that they can get the dimensions correct. We ask for files to be in CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow & Black) format. CMYK is just the way that printers refer to colour it refers to the four inks used in the standard print process.

On a PC screen you use only three colours, Red Green & Blue, commonly referred to as RGB. Ensuring pictures are in the right colour format means they look their best on the printed page.

Advert Sizes

We like to think that advertising in Suited and Booted is as easy as possible but it does help if you know what file sizes and formats are acceptable!

Quarter Page: Size:62mm wide by 99mm tall Cost: £40 per monthly insertion

Half Page Landscape: Size: 128mm wide by 99mm tall Cost: £78 per monthly insertion

Half Page Portrait: Size: 62mm wide by 200mm tall Cost: £78 per monthly insertion

Full page (inside): Size: 148mm wide by 210mm tall (plus 3mm each side for bleed area) Cost: £128 per monthly insertion

Back page: Size: 148mm wide by 210mm tall (plus 3mm each side for bleed area) Cost: £145 per monthly insertion

Front page earpiece: (South Somerset-West Dorset edition only): Size: 33mm wide by 58mm tall Cost: £40 per monthly insertion.

We ought to mention that the prices are all inclusive; we are too small to be VAT registered.

File Formats

We can accept most files and make some kind of use of them. But for preference a high resolution JPG, TIF or PDF file is preferred at 300 dot per inch resolution (DPI) minimum and in CMYK colour format. It helps if it actually scaled to the approximate printed dimensions too.

We can also accept the following file types: AI, PDF, PSD, JPG, TIF. If you have created something in Microsoft Word, we will typically re-draft the advert with our tools. Word does not integrate well with desk top publishing programs.

For those of you interested in our workflow, we use Adobe Creative Suite with InDesign being used for the page layout. We are PC based (but have nothing against all you Apple Mac fans!)
